Bucs take on Juventus in friendly Posted on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 - 13:00 Orlando Pirates will continue their preparations for this weekend’s Telkom Knockout Cup clash against Bloemfontein Celtic when they host Vodacom League side Sasolburg Juventus in a practice match at the Johannesburg Stadium this afternoon.
The Sea Robbers will come into this practice match without six regulars who are currently in camp with Bafana Bafana. Moeneeb Josephs, Lucas Thwala, Teko Modise, Andile Jali, Thulasizwe Mbuyani and Gert Schalkwyk are currently in Brazil attending South Africa’s 2010 World Cup training camp.
However, their absence should open doors for other players in the team such as Senzo Meyiwa, Lehlohonolo Seema, Josephy Kamwendo, Thembinkosi Fanteni and Phenyo Mongala to name just a few, who have been on the fringes this season.
Pirates host Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday and this friendly game will be used to provide Krol the perfect platform to get his team to gel as a unit and to further work out his combinations.
The game against Siwelele, will be the second in as many weeks following their 1-all draw in the last Absa Premiership game of the season last weekend.
The Buccaneers – who finished as runners up in the competition last year, will be looking to do one better in 2010 by lifting the title and collect the whopping R 4.25 million cheque come April 10, 2010 (the day of the final).
